This Is Not A Love Song

I love things that make me itchy,
scream, squirm or just feel so awkward i'm bordering on masochism while sipping scotch.

before i indulge myself in the narcassistic orgasm that is blogging,
let's pour one out for nashville, y'all.
if you're like the rest of the world you probably don't know that the city nearest and dearest to my heart is under water.
Anderson Cooper (daddy crush of my life, that he is)
gave the disaster an amusing nod...
and the more I see pictures of the devastating aftermath,
the more I only want to listen to this song

but anyways,
this makes me giggle

and these are part of my new image collection of fascinating and sexual, uncomfortable headgear
these next to are a representation of
what is my best friendship with Matthew Taylor and Coco Campbell

this is how i feel everyday.
broke, wearing pink when i should be wearing black, and misunderstood by authority figures

oh and i started smoking again.
shoot me, i'm a writer, andAlign Center non-smoking writers are like accountants without pocket protectors.

In other news, us hipstars at DefyingMainstream are releasing out pre-issue on May 20th!
Very excited for that and the imminent return of Miss Bacall Michaels to the city
(long overdue!)

I also am now the loan ranger of west 10th, which is refreshing in so many ways,
but due to tact and boredom of the subject, I won't go into it.
I will be residing in my old stomping grounds with my old roommate Miss Molly Joy
next year.
Funny how things work out.
But I missed her terribly, and I do believe that we belong together, amongst the gays and in the shadow of the flatiron building, n'est pas?

(however I will deeply miss sitting upon my west village stoop, chain smoking newports and flipping through old issues of Interview, while watching disgruntled nannies of non U.S. origin push around apathetic two-year olds wearing baby marc jacobs)

Moving day is May 22nd and Papa RJ will be here to help me give NYC a last big romp before I go back to the south for the summer.
(don't worry though friends, I'm not leaving the city until June 1st ♥)

be back later, once my final exams have come to an end and I can drink dirty martinis with extra olives naked on my fire escape in celebration of summer

I'll leave you with this video that is the merging of two of my favorite artists into one giant cream pie (vegan of course)

U.T.I. (untamed telescopic interface, duh...)

finals and an insatiable desire to soak up manhattan as much as possible in the next month have made blogging a little difficult. all apologies, clicksters.

Since I don't have time to give you anything real thick to hold onto of my own (seeing as i've been working on my writing portfolio night and day, and you babies can't read it until it's published) here are some works of others that i am passing along to you...

if you don't read postsecret, you should...
these were my favorites this week

In other news: this is now right now

Other places in the world, musicians I love are doing things I don't understand...
like Kele from blocparty's new electro solo album
oh and don't forget about M.I.A.'s new "punk rock" single
the video for which you can see here
(warning, not for the faint of heart.)

well that's it for today clicksters,
but baby'll be back asap to rub one out with you guys

Stranger Neighbor

The city opened up its mouth this weekend and I feel in.
Today I sorted out the aftermath. It looked like this
I really needed:
i'm drying out.
but at least this is coming soon at a beach house near you

This makes a lot of sense right now:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth; 5
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same, 10
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back. 15
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. 20
-Robert Frost

This doesn't:
(Karen Elson, fashion model and wife of Jack White's singing debut. The organ and the dress were good choices, however)

(you can see a more articulate review of this along with a couple other tasty new albums that i wrote a couple weeks ago HERE)

at least there's this for a rainy big city little little girl kinda day

sorry this evening isn't the most coherent of sorts,
but i figured i should give y'all something to look at.

Ethereal Ephemeral

It is going to be eighty degrees today, and after a morning of inspired writing,
my uncle's rooftop in midtown is calling me to sun, picnic, drink wine and read a good book.

Here's a few pictures and a great quote to give your day a lil spark if your weather isn't as nice as New York's right now.

I must learn to love the fool in me-the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my fool

-Theodore Isaac Rubin

and if you're looking for a good read...
this one's great if you're really confused about what the hell is going on in our world right now.
(I am.)
...or if you're in the mood for something more creative...
southern gothic is a great way to go.
(I think so.)

in other news,
my sister left today which made me sad,
but while she was here we went to
planetariums and toy stores and underground bars
hidden in hot dog shops...
and we saw A Behanding in Spocane featuring Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell...
what's better than that?
Spring is crashing into this drowsy metropolis tomorrow,
bringing us highs in the seventies and sunshine,
(I'mSoStarvedForSunshine)
Things are looking up clicksters!
