Cause I've been Dreaming We Could Be the Fire for This Night

The south does something to me.
As usual, Sorry for the lack of updates darlings, life's been full of wild times and never enough time to stop at the glowbox to put it all into writing. But Anyways...

Bonnaroo as usual was the unpredictable wonder that we knew it would be when we piled into the car at 7am, being the responsible hippees that we are.  But in this case the early birds did not get the worm, we didn't beat any traffic, and ultimately got stuck in the back of the camp grounds.
What is typically a 45 minute drive from Nashville to Manchester took us 9 hours.
But of course we made the most of it and decided to say 'Fuck It' and get on top of the car and blow bubbles, pop open some beers and blast some good 'ole southern rock.

Our neighbors in line ended up being our neighbors at our campsite, and in the spirit of the Roo, we made great friends. Regardless of being a trek from the music we always had a chill spot to come home to, fully equipped with a make shift living room and kitchen.  But in reality 'chill' has an entirely different meaning at Bonnaroo, because no matter where you go and at what time there will be people willing to throw down with you, and even at 3am the ritualistic rebel cry of 'BONNAROO' will always be answered by many.

Friday was by far the craziest day, starting out with Animal Collective, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and then letting TV on the Radio lull me to sleep, only to wake up two hours later to the same trippin' kid hanging in the tree above me.
That night we saw the Beastie Boys which was by far my favorite show.
Next to Snoop
Because my love for him is older than my love for whiskey, and that says something.

Ultimately, Bonnaroo is not something that can be explained, it must be experienced, because you can't put into words the feeling of complete chaos wrapped inside bond of almost a hundred thousand people who still believe in the same things. It kind of gives you hope that maybe our generation can save the world after all, we just have to remember that
we're all in this together.
and we should love each other.

Okay, I'm sick of sitting in one spot.  I'm off to the farm in Fairview where I grew up with my sister Amelia, and we live in a dome
and Papa Frank let's us drive his little red truck truck

I'm getting my fill of the south because the countdown has begun for my departure (Sunday) and I don't know when I'll be back again.

But don't worry Mariel,
I'm coming home.
So we can pretend to live like this
and go visit Rick.

Run Into Me

W. 10th St. is calling. Because living with Mariel feels like
This
I've been stirring in the south and dreaming of the city.

I want to decorate

And have a dinner party. If you're lucky we can have a sleepover.
(Because cuddling is right and why sleep alone when you don't have to?)

Speaking of cuddling, my favorite spoon, and the best husband a lil girl could ask for, Ryan
is coming down on home to rub me the right way.
I think we make a damn good couple. n'est pas?

He's no deep sea diver
But I prefer cowboys anyway.

So life is slow and green.  The people are as sweet as the tea, and the weed is as red as the wildflowers that line the interstates.  It's a welcomed change of pace, but as the end of my stay starts to peak out on the horizon line, I am getting excited for the way life appears as though it's going be this upcoming year.  New York is no longer an experiment with communal living and stir crazy nights, it's the next step in living loudly and dancing too close.
I am ready to hit the pavement.

But first and foremost,
a week from today I will be embarking on a little experience us Tennesseans like to call
BONNAROO.
Some of you know about the catastrophe I created for myself there two years ago, but I'm looking forward to making new memories with people I love, in the sun and the dirt, and making much wiser decisions (no drug salad, please).

So stay savy, and holler at ya girl y'all.

We Are Animals After All

And only the good die young
So give someone a lapdance

and see what happens

Or just chill out and Listen to some records

Ya know, drink some Juice

My point is, everyone's so wound up right now.
Calm down, quit judging and Have A Good Time.
Let's embrace the carefree spirit of summer, y'all.

Wagonwheel

Right Now I Feel Like This:

Because Summer Means

Water

Skin
Water
and
Skin
Right now my southern accent's a lil' thicker and life is full of good people and good weather.
We drink under christmas lights and fall asleep in a pile on the hardwood floor.
There are puppies, kittens and whiskey.
What could be better?
Well, maybe if You were here.
But I don't even really know who you are.

Right now I have two goals:
make a blues record
go camping

oh and convince Mariel to let me get a pig for the apartment

That's all for now.
But Papa RJ got me a new digital camera today so be expecting lots of photos of people I love and places that make my little corner of the country my favorite place to be.

We're Sick For the Big Sun

Sorry for neglecting y'all. It's been a whirlwind, but after a few anxiety attacks and a couple handfuls of sedatives, we are settled into the new digs in the city
This is our view:
This is my room:
That is in desperate need of me coming back to make it look like this
and to keep us classy we hung this photo to remind us to ask,
"What would Cary Grant do?"

AND now I am back in the sleepy south for a moment to:
breathe the fresh air
lie in the grass
look at the stars
drink whiskey
drive fast
see sunsets so perfect that cameras don't do them justice
road trip through states that still fly confederate flags
climb trees and skin my knees
and have some serious Mama Papa time

This time last year I was in the exact same spot I'm sitting right now, But it felt a lot different.
I'm waiting for summer to feel like this
It's coming though, we just have to jump in.

Age of Consent

We Get Our Keys Tomorrow!

And even though we're far to small to do it alone, we're moving all of our shit in. Help is welcome though. We'll make you lemonade or something.
And then we're buying blow up mattresses and candles so we can sleep there because 20th street is basically a hazard to our health.
It's been real guys, BUT it's definitely time to move on.

For posterity's sake though let's take a moment to look back on the place I've called home for the past year.
Things I've learned at 300 W. 20th St:
  • Svedka is better than Georgi, but it's not quite Skyy. But at the end of the day, all Vodka will still taste like rubbing alcohol.
  • I've lost at least 1,000 brain cells bumping my head on the ceiling, lofted beds are not all they're cracked up to be.
  • Postcards make good wall art.
  • Making this many people live in such confined and close quarters is cruel and unusual punishment.
  • Apparently even at art school there are frat boys.
  • Alcoholism is more of a generational trend than a personal problem.
  • Having to sign people in is degrading.
  • Having to "swipe in" is worse.
  • My neuroses were not meant for dorm life.
There's plenty that we can all complain about, but at the end of the day there was always someone bitching about you, always someone to bitch about, always someone to bitch with, and when you were really down, there was always someone to drink it all away with.
Oh and remember when we all used to go to Rush?
At least we can say we've come a long way.

And Now it's time for life on West 10th Street. You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet.

Mama Jackie is coming up on Saturday, which I'm really excited about. And then I'm flying back to Nashville on Tuesday, where there's a puppy waiting for me!
Meet Bella, internet world.
but don't worry
New York City, even this little face won't keep me gone long. I'll Be Back. Because I already miss You way too much.
Just like I'm going to miss a lot more of you when the time comes.

Right now my brain feels like this
